It's getting near to the day of action! And we are talking about the day where we see freeriders and gravity riders take over Velocity@ Novena Square! Yes! Red Bull Downmall Challenge 2015.
URBAN FREERIDE
Happening 21st and 22nd March 2015, it's a time when veterans come to strut their stuff and newbies come to open their eyes.
In recent years, urban bike freeride or gravity competitions are rare to come by. Due to an unfortunate incident at one international franchise competition some years back, many premise owners had been skeptical about competitions or displays of such nature, often worrying about possible unforeseen circumstances. Thanks to Velocity@Novena Square, Redbull (25% Less Sugar) and event manager 1OAK Event Services, the local freeride/gravity community is able to enjoy an urban race in the heart of the city for a 2nd year in a roll!

While we are gonna be having fun this coming weekend, let's show some love to the movers who made this event possible.
REDBULL (25% LESS SUGAR) ENERGY DRINK
Red Bull (25% Less Sugar) Energy Drink is distributed by Allswell in Singapore, and they are also the first company to export Red Bull outside of its native Thailand in the early 80s. They are a well-know brand name when it comes to sports and they have been actively involved with many sports events. One common attraction at sporting events are the Red Bull girls. These ambassadors of the brand would be prowling the event premises giving out Red Bull drinks to athletes and spectators. Watch out for them!
VELOCITY@NOVENA SQUARE
Velocity@Novena Square is Singapore's first sports and active lifestyle mall managed by UOL Group Limited where shoppers can find all their active lifestyle needs under one roof. Velocity@Novena Square had played host to many active events including Velocity Urban Attack, B-Ball Battle – the only caged basketball tournament, Velocity 2-on-2 Beach Volleyball Competitions and worked with partners for NBA Asian Tour 2007, 40th Singapore International Open Bowing Championship and many more … Velocity constantly contribute to the sporting community by sponsoring the venue for more than 60% of the race kit collections in Singapore and works with Singapore Disability Sports Council to showcase this special group of athletes.
1OAK EVENT SERVICES
1OAK Event Services is headed by long-time mountain bike scene mover Jefferson Ng and the company deals with event organization/support and design/construction of event features. 1OAK is a special company in that they deal mainly with cycling and adventure sports events. Their experience and expertise have been pivotal in making many cycling-related events come to fruition. 1OAK Event Services and Jefferson had been working hard all this while to gather the otherwise fragmented talents of the cycling community to work together.
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR FREERIDING
To usher in more urban freeride/gravity events in Singapore, there is a need to show to the general public (and sponsors) that freeriders are a fun and responsible lot. And that freeride/gravity biking has a substantial population. Join in the event – either as a racer or as a supporter, and make the weekend of 21st and 22nd March 2015 a day to remember!
