OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

 

EVENT OVERVIEW

Date: January 20th & 21st January 2018

Venue : *SCAPE

Time: 9am – 6pm

CATEGORIES

  1. Junior Under 12 (7 – 12 years old)
  2. Junior (13 – 16 years old)
  3. Youth (17 – 21 years old)
  4. Fat Bike (18 years old & above)
  5. *Rookie (21 years old and above)
  6. Open (22 – 35 years old)
  7. Masters (36 years old & above)

Note: Participants below 18 years old must seek parental or guardian consent before entering the competition.

* Rookie category is suited for first-timers and those new to the sport. Participants who take part in this category can expect a simpler route.

 

 

FORMAT

  • An Individual Time Trial race consisting of the rider finding the fastest racing line.
  • Riders will be required to overcome man-made obstacles being set up along the race line
  • Riders are let off the start ramp at 30 seconds or 1 min intervals.
  • In order to win, every physical, technical and mental skill is required.
  • The organizer reserves the right to cancel category if the participating riders amount to less than 5 riders.

 

 

ELIGIBILTY

  • Riders are to bring their registration receipt and identification proof (e.g. birth certificate, identification card, etc.) to the event and should an age dispute arise, the rider must be prepared to prove identification throughout the race. Age will be determined by year of birth against year of event.
  • If any rider’s personal information listed on the entry form is inaccurate (e.g. age, NRIC number), the rider will be eliminated from participation in the race. Discovery at any time after registration of the rider in question may also result in elimination from further competition.
  • Eligibility problems will be enforced from point of discovery. No replay of runs or adjustments will be allowed for previous runs and standings involving the rider in question.

 

 

GAME REGULATIONS

  • Rider must be at the holding area 15 mins before their scheduled time, even if delays in the event are expected for any reason. The riders are ultimately responsible for obtaining accurate scheduling information and being at the holding area when their race is about to begin. It is the racer’s responsibility to always check with the Race Management team with regards to their next run.

 

 

EQUIPMENT

  • Open to only mountain bikes of wheel size not more than 29”
  • Exception: The minimum wheel size of 26" does not apply to the Junior Under 12 Category. Instead, the child may ride any bike (with no training wheels) that’s suitable for him/her, but it is mandatory for their parent/guardian to follow them on the route. On the competitive route, the parent/guardian may assist the child in any way to overcome various obstacles, such as carrying the bike down the escalator instead of riding down on the bike.
  • Braking system:

          Hardtail – Min.1 working brake system at rear    

          Full suspension – Working brakes required for both front & rear

 

 

  • Cockpit:

          Steerer tube extension

          Handle bar grips, bar end caps are compulsory;         – not more than 30mm above stem

 

 

APPAREL

  • Helmets – Mountain biking or BMX hard shelled full-face helmet with visor and chin strap tightened is compulsory
  • Covered shoes
  • Other recommendations:
    •    Back, elbow, knee and shoulder protectors made of rigid material;
    •    Protection for the nape of the neck and the cervical vertebrae;
    •    Padding on shins and thigh;
    •    Broad full length trousers made from rip-resistant material incorporating;
    •    Protection for the knees and calves, or broad-cut shorts made from rip-resistant material plus knee and calve protectors with rigid surface;
    •    Long-sleeved shirt;
    •    Full finger gloves

 

 

THE RACE

  • No section-by-section practice is allowed during practice session(s) unless allowed by race director
  • A participant must act in a sporting manner and must permit any faster rider to overtake without obstructing.

 

 

THE RACE ROUTE

  • Participants will descend from the 4th level to the main open area (PLAYSPACE) going through
    • the fire escape, negotiating 3 flights of steps which includes tight turns;
    • a 1ft kicker into the open area;
    • a truck table top of 1M height;
    • a set of teeter totters (see saw);
    • riding across a berm into;
    • a set of rollers;
    • a final 1.2M height table top to the finish line

6.00 pm: Race Kit collection @ SCAPE (to be advised)    

7.30 pm: Pre-race briefing    

8.30 pm: Course walk

 

20.01.2018 (Saturday)    

8.30 am: Assemble at SCAPE (to be advised)    

9.00 am: Practice starts    

11.30 am: Practice ends, course check        

12.00pm: Lunch break        

1.00pm: Seeding starts        

5.30pm: Seeding ends   

6.00pm: Storage of bikes at carpark

7.00pm: Event closes (seeding results posted at bike storage area)

 

21.01.2018 (Sunday)

7.30 am: Bike storage opens for collection        

9.00 am: Practice starts    

11.30 am: Practice ends, course check        

12.00pm: Lunch break        

1.00pm: Race starts        

5.30pm: Race ends    

6.00pm: Prize presentation

7.00pm: Event closes

 

 

SAFETY

  • Min. 1 ambulance with 4 crews will be on standby

 

 

OTHER MENTIONS

  • If a participant exits the race course for any reason, he/she must re-enter at his/her last point of exit. If he/she fails to do so, he/she will be disqualified.
  • All participants must participate in practices, seeding and final run for both days
  • Participants will be flagged off at between 15 to 60 sec intervals.
  • Bike storage on Saturday 6pm at carpark. Bike collection on Sunday at 7.30am. Store at own risk
  • Participants are required to attend the race kit collection and race safety briefing on 19.01.18.
  • Latest updates and information will be shared

 

 

BAD WEATHER

  • In the event of adverse weather conditions and/or unplayable conditions the following may result:
    • All races will continue as scheduled unless the Race Director notifies of any changes via on-site announcement.
    • Races may be delayed or shortened, or if conditions are deemed too unsafe to continue play, races may be suspended or cancelled.
    • Event will be suspended if PSI reaches 200.
    • The last timing of each rider will be taken in as the official results of the race.

 

 

CONDUCT

  • Participant must not use, possess or distribute alcohol, tobacco or drugs, with the exception of those prescribed by a physician.
  • Participant must not verbally, physically abuse, demonstrate vulgar action towards another participant, official and/or spectator. Anyone behaving in a disorderly or disruptive manner may be asked to leave the premised and disqualified from the event.
  • No cycling in the main building is allowed. Any misbehaviour conducted in public and damaging *SCAPEs’ property, once caught, will be disqualified.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

Participants are to read the following terms and conditions before proceeding with registration. By submitting the application form, you consent and agree to be bound by all terms and conditions set out herein, any other terms and conditions may be prescribed by the organizer from time to time in relation to the event. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions may result in disqualification from the event.

 

Health & Safety

  1. Every participant is responsible for his/her involvement in the event. The organizer will not be liable for any injury, mishap, sickness, death or loss/damage to personal property that may occur during the event.
  2. If a participant feels unwell during the event, he/she should seek immediate attention from the event officials. First aid posts and ambulances will be stationed at the event area.
  3. Participant must wear adequate foot protection with a sole while competing.

 

Conduct

  1. Participant must not use, possess or distribute alcohol, tobacco or drugs, with the exception of those prescribed by a physician.
  2. Participant must not verbally, physically abuse, demonstrate vulgar action towards another participant, official and/or spectator. Anyone behaving in a disorderly or disruptive manner may be asked to leave the premised and disqualified from the event.
  3. Participants are not allowed to cycle within the main building and the transition route. They are to push their bikes. Participants caught doing so will be penalised by the race director

 

Refund & Exchange

  1. No refund of registration fee unless valid medical reason or National Service. Official proof must be submitted prior to event and subjected to the Organiser’s approval.
  2. No replacement of participant under any circumstances.

 

Additional Terms & Conditions

  1. By participating in the Competition, you grant to the Organiser and their respective assigns, licensees and affiliated companies the exclusive right to use, and to grant others the right to use, your name, likeness, biographical information, photographs, voice, personal characteristics, incidents in your life, and other personal identification, as well as any videotape, sound recordings, or other audio or visual portrayals of you in any and all manner and media, now known or hereafter devised, throughout the universe in perpetuity, for any and all purposes including, without limitation, in connection with the Event or any other productions, including any advertising or promotion thereof.
  2. You may be required to participate in videotaped interviews and other Organiser-selected activities related to the event. Failure to participate may result in disqualification.
  3. You understand and acknowledge that your portrayal on the event (and any advertising or promotion thereof), may include, without limitation, discussions of your run on the course and editing of your appearance (whether for time, humorous or satirical affect, or otherwise), and that you may consider such portrayal to be embarrassing, humiliating or derogatory.
  4. You acknowledge the possibility of certain disparities in conditions not reasonably within the control of the Organiser, including without limitation, as a result of weather, changing course conditions, etc. You assume the risk of any such disparity and acknowledge that the same shall not be grounds for any objection or challenge, nor shall any special allowance or accommodation be made therefore, except as may be otherwise determined by the Organiser in its sole discretion.
  5. During the event, you may only wear clothing that is pre-approved by the Organiser. At the Organiser’s discretion, you may be required to dress in certain branded attire of Event sponsors, street attire, athletic attire, and/or protective or safety clothing and devices.
  6. The Organiser is not obligated to select anyone as a competitor or to have any competitor appear on the event, and the Organiser shall have the right at any and all times and in its sole discretion to remove or replace any competitor in connection with the Event for any reason or no reason. Even if a competitor participates on the event, the Organiser is not obligated to use, exhibit or exploit the Event, or the competitor’s participation therein or any part thereof. The Organiser further reserves the right, without any liability on its part whatsoever, to cancel, postpone, terminate, suspend, end, stop or in any other way cease the Event at any time without prior notice.
  7. All production facilities are off limits to you at all times including but not limited to: the production office, TV truck, and any other production facility deemed off limits at the Organiser’s sole discretion. You may not leave your designated area at any time unless the Organiser has explicitly approved and/or you are accompanied by designated Event personnel.
  8. Each participant expressly acknowledges and agrees that the Organiser shall not be liable to any of the participant(s) for any loss or damage or injuries whatsoever or howsoever caused arising directly or indirectly in connection with the Event. Notwithstanding the generality of the foregoing, each participant expressly acknowledges and agrees that the Organiser has expressly excluded liability for all direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage, including but not limited to injuries, loss or damage to other equipment or property or for loss of profit, business, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings pursuant to the Event.
  9. Please note that your personal information submitted may be used and/or disclosed to Mediacorp group & its partners for various purposes, including contact tracing, market research and to send you marketing & advertising materials.

 

  • ALL DECISIONS REGARDING THE EVENT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE RULES, ELIGIBILITY, CONTESTANT SELECTION, EVENT PRODUCTION, THE COMPETITION, AND DISQUALIFICATION DETERMINATIONS, ARE AT THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE DISCRETION OF ORGANISER, ARE FINAL AND ARE NOT SUBJECT TO CHALLENGE OR APPEAL.
  • CONTESTANTS AGREE TO CONTINUE TO ABIDE BY THE CONTESTANT RELEASE AGREEMENT, ALL OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF WHICH ARE DEEMED INCORPORATED IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES BY RACE DIRECTOR.
  • ORGANISER RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE, ADD TO, DELETE FROM, MODIFY OR AMEND THE OFFICIAL RULES AT ANY TIME AT THEIR SOLE DISCRETION.
