DOWNHILL ON A BMX BY FABIEN COUSINIE

How do you level-up the challenge of a downhill track? Go for a shorter travel bike? Why not go full rigid, 20 inch wheels and only one set of brakes? And that's what Fabien Cousinié of Polygon UR Team did at the Fernhill Frenzy in Queenstown! For those of you who thought you know what "sketchy" and "gnarly" is, watch this video and think again!

GOING ON A CRAZY DARE AT FERNHILL FRENZY

The Fernhill Frenzy is now a annual feature of the Queenstown summer. A mass start downhill race amongst dense trees and infamous fernhill roots!

Fabien Cousinié continues:

"I still don't know why that evening at dinner I said I could ride the annual Fernhill Frenzy on a BMX! I quickly realized there was no turning back when my flatmate built me my brand new BMX, there was now no escape! I have only one thing to say – I went for it and it was in the top three of the scariest things and dumbest decision I've made in my life! The helmet cam doesn't give justice to how sketchy it was to roll down that famous, steep hill with 20" wheels, no suspension and slick tires in the middle of these wild dogs, but i'm so stoked to have done it ”
