EVENT: SINGAPORE BIKE SHOW X BIKEZILLA MASS RIDE
It's time for another Bikezilla Mass Ride! This time we got the folks from Singapore Bike Show 2017 to join us in hosting the next TWO rides! Yes, one in March and another one right before the Singapore Bike Show 2017 event itself! Along with Singapore Bike Show 2017, we have Tiong Hin Trading and Bike31 joining in with cool prizes and gifts for the ride. Sounds interesting yet?
LET'S RIDE!
We jumped at the opportunity to join in the hype with the soon-to-be officially opened Chestnut North MTB Trail. And what better way than to start it with a Bikezilla Mass RIde! (Ed: Bikezilla Mass RIde is not part of NParks' program for the official opening for the trail)
Chestnut MTB Trail is divided in a Northern and Southern section, with Chestnut South MTB Trail opened to public since April 2016. Chestnut North is scheduled to open in February 2017, making the network of trails around the Central Catchment Area more interesting than before.
This said trail is very flowy with a few sections that would give this trail its identity and you wanting to go back for more laps. The Black Crawler technical section is super fun, reminiscent of some Central Catchment Area trails of old. And Grasshopper section is so picturesque that it reminded us of a certain scene from a big blockbuster fantasy movie.
In terms of design, Chestnut North MTB Trail is a little different from the usual straight-forward loop trails found in Singapore. While the other trails usually have alternate routes which leads back to the main loop after a short distance, Chestnut North MTB Trail has many more intersections which allows riders to take on sections of the trail repeatedly (till they have enough of it) before choosing the path that leads back to the trail head. This allows some small exploring and your very own 'customized" ride routes once you get familiar with the trail.
The Northern section is not too long (exact distance to be confirmed), but we are expecting a typical ride to last approximately 30 minutes on an average pace. Of course, should the rider choose to loop around more within the trail, then it would take longer.
The trail is well-marked with informative signage and should be suitable and interesting for riders of all skill levels.
THE MASS RIDE
The Singapore Bike Show X Bikezilla Mass Ride at Chestnut North MTB Trail will be a group ride led by a team of Bikezilla riders. This would be a good time to get acquainted with and orientate around the new trail. As such, we will not leave any rider to explore the trail on their own during the mass ride. We are expecting to ride 3 loops if time permits.

Time: 8.00 am
ITINERARY
- 8.00 am Assemble at Chestnut Trail Point Amphitheatre
- 8.15 am Attendance and T-shirt distribution
- 8.45 am Safety Briefing
- 9.00 am Group Photo & Flag off
- 10.00 am First Round of Chestnut North completed.
- 10.05 am Target for another 2 rounds of Chestnut North for those who are interested
- 11.30 am Refreshment time at Chestnut Point Amphitheatre
- 11.45 am Mini Game session (Subject to time availability and other factors)
- 12.30 pm Event ends
* Time started are approximation and serve as a guide only. For participants who need to leave early, please inform one of the Bikezilla riders.
RIDE DETAILS
- Registration via Bikezilla Facebook Event Page
- Assemble at designated trail head only.
- Safety and Indemnity briefing will be conducted before the ride. (All participants will need to fill up an indemnity form before ride)
- Chestnut North MTB is approximately 4 km of easy ride. (estimate)
- Ride groups will be led, guided and swept by Bikezilla personnel.
- Only names that are registered with us, with completed contact details and indemnity form signed will be regarded as participants of the Bikezilla Mass Ride.
- Participants are reminded to ride within their physical fitness and technical expertise limits only.
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
Should a rider encounter technical difficulties, Bikezilla riders will try their best to help solve the problem. Problem solving is limited to whatever resources we have on site. In the case of a flat tyre, Bikezilla riders will give time for rider to change his/her own tyre tube(s). Those who do not know how to change a tyre's inner tube would be given on-site training, but participant(s) would be expected to change their own inner tube.

SPECIAL NOTE
As at press time, the registration to the event is already filling up. Which means the free t-shirts would befully taken up by now. But that's not gonna stop you from riding with us. Which means that everybody is still welcome to join us on that day! And for those who do not have their own bikes, rejoice as Chestnut Nature Park has its very own bicycle rental stall! So if you need to rent one, drop by early to grab yours. (Ed: we are not working with the bicycle rental stall at Chestnut Nature Park. As such, we will have no control over their opening hours or rental bicycle availability)
