Outdoor life is fun. It provides for a cleaner, simpler lifestyle that allows for roughing it out, be closer to nature & wildlife and tighter human-to-human relationships – amongst many other virtues. It is thus small wonder that the world-at-large is looking at outdoor lifestyle with new eyes, and a whole lot more interest. We are expecting to see more mountain bikers, hikers and active lifestyle enthusiasts picking up progressive outdoor sports and its spins offs. We will be back with more news on this outdoor lifestyle boutique later but what caught our attention on our first visit there was a portable pressurized shower/clean up system – Rinsekit.
SPRAY WASHING ON THE GO
To describe what Rinsekit is in essence: it is a portable pressurized shower/washing system that does not need to be plugged on to a power outlet nor requires pre-pumping up of the container's pressure. The container stores up to 7.6 litres or 2 gallons of water. The pressurized water can be stored up to 1 month in the container without losing pressure, and the thick insulated container is capable of holding both hot or cold temperatures for a period of time. Sounds good?
On opening the box, the inner cover has a full set of instructions on how to fill and drain the Rinsekit. Easy steps.
According to the manual, the kit takes about 20 seconds to fill under approximately 65 psi of water pressure from the tap. On actual usage with Singapore tap, it took us a little longer – it does indeed depends on the water pressure in your area. Once the container was filled, the tap stopped flowing (the water gushing sound stopped). Rinsekit claims that the system will not malfunction due to prolonged pressure from the tap. And the pressured content would hold its pressure for up to one month. Everything needed is inside this neat package. From the 7-settings spray nozzle, to the hose to the quick coupler.
One thing we noted was that the system would be perfect if it comes with a tap adaptor for smaller spigot size. But the said adaptor could be easily purchased from any supermarket or hardware shop.
RINSEKIT FOR BIKING
From a biker's point of view, we find Rinsekit a good addition to our biking lifestyle – especially for those who live far from the trail and has to drive to the trailhead. For a start, it is a good bike wash kit. And on days when the trails are muddy, having one in your car would mean being able to rinse off the mud from your shoes, gears and bike before mounting them and driving off. And the usefulness of Rinsekit goes beyond ride days of course; BBQs, hikes, family days, fishing trips are just a few occasions we think a Rinsekit would be welcomed.
