NEW SHOP IN TOWN
GRAVITY RACING AND RACE CONTROL
Situated a short distance from the well-known bicycles retail hub Vertex is a relatively new building called Oxley Biz Hub. And it is at this new location that we found Gravity Racing and Race Control. This new shop goes by 2 names – Gravity Racing focus mainly on bike mechanical works and Race Control on all kinds of bike apparels, accessories, components, frames and complete bikes. Sound like a complete service provider? We think so too.
GRAVITY RACING
Gravity Racing is headed by Ong Chee Boon, and his regular customers call him "Boon" simply. Being an experienced downhiller himself, he is one of the few preferred mechanics in town, Having no less than 6 years of bike mechanical experience (both working in a bike shop previously and freelancing), Boon decided to venture out on his own finally. His regular customers were all happy to learn that they now can get him to handle all their bike mechanical needs in a more convenient way. A quick check with Boon reveals that his mechanical labour fee are very competitively priced. It seems that the only thing to worry then is whether he has time slots available for every customer that goes to him now. RACE CONTROL
The name Race Control may be new to many but the owner Daryl Ong is a regular face in Singapore local events. While the shop may not be big by local one-stop bike retailers standards (retail space occupied about 700 square feet), any customer who walks in would be quite impressed with the product range being offered. Of note are brands like BOS, Jetblack, Azonic, Aerozine, Deity, Weldlite, Alphine Star, Kenny, IXS and Halo. And Race Control is also the retailer for MDE and Identiti bike frames. Check with them for complete bike builds.
A GOOD TEAM-UP
If we are to list down the 3 main criteria that make a great bike shop, then it would be Service, Expertise and Product range. And it seems like the guys at Gravity Racing and Race Control did a good team-up to satisfy the equation. As Bikezilla spoke to the 2 owners, we discovered that they have a lot of ideas that are eagerly waiting to be executed. We look forward to hearing more updates from them.
