Alan Grant enters the Singapore Book of Records
for the Longest Distance Covered On A Stationary Bike
in 6 Hours at OCBC Cycle 2016 Event Launch

With a distance of 217.2km, cycling enthusiast Alan Grant smashed the current Singapore Book of Records for the longest distance covered on a stationary bike in 6 hours by a male, which was previously set by Zeng Yukai in June 2008. The previous record was 142.4km.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE LAUNCH OF THE OCBC 24-HOUR ON SITE REGISTRATION
The record-breaking feat was held in conjunction with the launch of the 24-hour on-site registration for OCBC Cycle 2016 held at orchardgateway from 12.00pm on 15 April to 12.00pm on 16 April.
In a separate team challenge to clock the furthest mileage on a stationary bike within 24 hours, cycling club Specialized Mavericks proved their worth and emerged victorious with 864.9km clocked. Trailing closely behind them was the team from New Moon, who rode a total distance of 858km. One of Singapore’s oldest cycling teams – Geylang Cycling Club – managed a distance of 810.9km, while the OCBC Bank team clocked 785.6km. The 24-hour challenge was not an official record-setting event.
OCBC Cycle 2016, the nation’s largest cycling event, will take place on 1 and 2 October this year. Online registration will start from 18 April at 10.00am. Visit www.ocbccycle.com for more information.
