CYCLING TEAM ANNOUNCED

Eight national cyclists book their spots for

the 28th SEA Games Cycling Team

With two months to go before Singapore hosts the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF) has announced that eight national cyclists have confirmed their spots in the biennial meet. Dinah Chan, Serene Lee, Goh Choon Huat, Low Ji Wen, Vincent Ang, Teh Jing Long, Darren Low and Benedict Lee will represent the nation in the cycling competition that will be conducted only in road race

 

THE CYCLISTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

Dinah, who brought home gold in the Women’s 30km time trial at the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar, will be competing in the Individual Time Trial, Road Race, and Criterium. Her teammate Serene will also be competing in the same events, but will act as a reserve in the Individual Time Trial.

Choon Huat, Ji Wen and Vincent will be racing in the Road Race and Criterium events, while Darren, Benedict and Jing Long will be racing in the Individual Time Trial, Road Race and Criterium. Jing Long will act as reserve for the Individual Time Trial.

The SCF’s selection criteria for the team is based on athletes who have achieved at least a 3rd placing in the 2013 SEA Games, or ranked 3rd among SEA Games countries in equivalent events. These achievements were based on all submitted competition results from 2013 and 2014 as per SCF SEA Games Selection Policy.

In the event that any of the eight SEA Games Squad athletes are unable to compete, the next best reserve athlete who has met the SNOC selection criteria would be activated as a replacement.”

There are six cycling events in the 28th SEA Games, including the Men’s (approximately 40km) and Women’s (approximately 30km) Individual Time Trial, the Men’s (90 minutes) and and Women’s (60 minutes) Criterium, and the Men’s and Women’s Mass Start Road Race.
