RETROSPECTION: A LOOK BACK AT

THE SINGAPORE BIKE SHOW 2017

SINGAPORE'S MELTING POT FOR CYCLISTS AND MOTOR BIKERS

The Singapore Bike Show happened over the weekend of 18 -20 August 2017. It was a full 3 days of 2-wheeled actions from motorbike stunt performances, pump track actions, sharing sessions, not-to-be-missed deals and the usual expo glam (more commonly known as exhibition talents or models). All in all, it was a weekend packed with activities and fun.

BIKEZILLA AS PART OF THE SINGAPORE BIKE SHOW

Bikezilla is honored to be a part of this year's Singapore Bike Show. We started off with 2 lead-up events (Bikezilla Mass Ride), months before the event proper, and got the mountain biking community to mark their calendars for this action-packed weekend. Our event theme for this year was "When Mountain Biking Becomes Larger than Life" in which we gathered an array of products and services at our booth that represent the fun and aspiration in mountain biking. (Thanks to Yak Ru, Ion, Cyclogy & Racing Bros for their time with us!) And what we experienced over the weekend was this melting pot of 2 wheelers which surpassed our expectations.

THE BIG MELTING POT

The Singapore Bike Show 2017 is an expo for those who love 2-wheeled toys – be it motorized, electrical or human-powered. This combo of putting motorbikes and bicycles is somewhat a natural complement to each other. The only thing we need to worry about is one day when both the motor bikes and bicycle exhibits are going to be so huge that they either need multiple halls or split the event into 2 separate ones. Whatever it is, we are enjoying the nice combo of bicycle and motor bikes for now.

CROWD PULLER

The motor bike stunt shows which happened on Saturday and Sunday was a definite crowd puller. Many came to the event just for these shows. And that's no surprise since we get to see renowned riders Aaron Twite, Hiroyuki Ogawa and Julien Welsch burn some rubber (and sparked some fire).

At the pump track, Ng Chee Keong showed off some speedy pumps, carves and transits. Visitors get the have their own session at the pump track too.

GOOD BARGAINS

As expected, there were lots of great bargains at the show – from helmets to bags to apparels to lubes to tools and motor bikes/bicycles. Amongst the attention-seeking offers, one category of product caught our attention the most. The fad of the e-scooter is definitely still going strong. There were no less than 15 booths giving the best offerings on e-scooter deals that should not be ignored. Our editor was "poisoned" by a few of the scooter models (we mean the scooters themselves) and the great prices offered.

SEE YOU AT THE NEXT SINGAPORE BIKE SHOW

The Singapore Bike Show is a lot of fun. It has the long list of programs, the wide range of products/brands, with good opportunities to pick up some great purchases. We are expecting the Singapore Bike Show to come back bigger and stronger next year. Can't wait for another weekend of expo fun soon!
