EVENT: THE DECATHLON X URBAN WHEELS X

BIKEZILLA MASS RIDE PULAU UBIN

It has been some time since our last mass ride. This round, the mass ride brings with it a new significance. Read on for the details and get ready to ride!

FROM TRAIL TO STREET

Humans are adaptable creatures. They survive by making the best out of the environment they live in. And this applies to all aspects of living – daily routines, work as well as recreation. Iheavily urbanized countries, it is therefore natural to see sub-groups of mountain bikers taking on a unique riding trend – a mix of urban and off-road riding. This is common where off-road trails are hard to come by and the concrete jungle holds a different kind of fun.

While some purist mountain bikers stick solely to the few trails dotted around our island country, there other segments of riders would make the best use of everything the country has to offer – from park connectors, to somewhat more adventurous areas. (Ed: Let's keep the civic aspect of street riding for another day)  These bikers seek a combination of urban fun and off-road challenge. And it would seem like this trend of riding paints the full spectrum of a large group of mountain bikers in Singapore.

And it is with this full spectrum in mind that we think about Urban Wheels the City Challenge 2016. The urban race happening on 17 – 18 September 2016 at *SCAPE (Orchard Road) is only half the big picture when it comes to mountain biking. And that's when we decide to complete the big picture with the Trail Riding component. Enter the next Decathlon X Urban Wheels X Bikezilla Mass Ride!
