NEWS: MEDIACORP OOH MEDIA SPURS NOVICE BIKERS

TO "MAKE YOUR MARK" IN UPCOMING

URBAN WHEELS THE CITY CHALLENGE 2016

Mediacorp’s OOH Media spurs novice bikers to pick up an active lifestyle through mountain biking in this year’s upcoming Urban Wheels Challenge at *SCAPE on 17 – 18th September 2016. This year, we are expecting 150-200 participants and over 3000 spectators on both days of the event.

EVERY RIDER SHOULD MAKE HIS/HER OWN MARK!

Building up from last year’s inaugural challenge, this year’s cycling event throwbacks to the basics of mountain biking, engaging and introducing to the public about the sport. In line with this year’s tagline “Make Your Mark”, the event also aims to encourage first-timers to contribute to the vibrancy for this sport by experiencing the thrills and adrenaline rush of an urban gravity race in the heart of the city.

This introductory course sees novice mountain bikers riding down mall escalators and stairs, in addition to various obstacles and speed bumps, in the tradition of urban gravity races.

While participants enjoy the challenging race routes, spectators can expect a variety of exciting family-friendly fringe activities in the Urban Wheels Village. The village features many attractive offers and product demonstrations to cater to all cycling enthusiasts. There will also be celebrity meet and greet sessions and open bicycle try-outs for the public to try various unique bicycles.

Leading up to the event day, the public can hone their biking skills by signing up for complementary biking skills clinics, sports injury prevention talk and technical biking workshops.

LET'S RIDE!

Competitive bikers can sign up for the challenge online and they will be entitled an early bird offer of 10% discount. After 15th July 2016, the registration fee will be S$65 per person.

Mr Henry Goh, Head of OOH Media said, “Through this event, we aim to continue our partnership with the local cycling community in cultivating a vibrant cycling ecosystem, whilst giving the sporting advertisers a unique platform to engage their audience”.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information about Urban Wheels Challenge 2016 or to sign up for the competition please visit http://www.todayonline.com/urbanwheels
